WMC pending delete notification

pezboy
Is it possible to add the "<!>" warning and details that WMC displays on the default 'Recorded TV' page when a file will be deleted soon because disk space is low on the recording drive to RTH in some way? Maybe display the "<!>" indicator by the title (like watched indicator) and display the details on the detail page? I very rarely view WMC's default 'Recorded TV' page (thanks to RTH) and I have lost a few recordings from not knowing when they will be deleted by WMC. Thanks again.

I don't think I have the ability to pull that information, but I have been thinking about putting a warning icon somewhere just basically pointing out that disk space is running low.

I've been thinking about requesting a small feature that would give indication of hard drive space usage (precentage used, etc...).

For my situation monitoring the folder that WMC records to is not of any use.  WHS has a service that transfers the recording immediately to the server share.  I also have several server shares on different HDD in the server all for shows.  RHDTV works great as I just set all the shares to be monitored in your outside of MCE settings GUI and bing it's all good.

If you could have the monitor even once a day check the HDD space of each folder of it's monitoring and know the % full that would be cool to be able to see in the MCE interface.  Not sure if that's available though on server shares though as you can't get that through file explorer.  I actually have to go into the server dashboard or RDP into it.  That is why knowing that info inside MCE would be an added convience.

BTW All the 1minute recording metadata for *.wtv files is due to the WHS service that transfers the files from the local recorded TV folder to the server acting too quickly and the symptom is the 1min duration metadata.  This is well documented on forms for WHS but as you know your last two alphas have fixed that issue.

Beaker's setup is similar to mine, and I'm very interested in disk-space reporting.  Just to clarify, I'd prefer to see a "Free space on Drive X: is less than XXXMB" popup in RTVHD, with the user allowed to set a threshhold by either free-space amount or percentage for each drive/directory monitored.  If no value is input by the user, then a default value would be applied if the feature is enabled.  User can enable or disable.

Thanks, MJT.

MoRBid – I agree completely but don’t know how this can be done when you are talking about server shares which don’t report the actual physical HDD it’s on or the total, used, free space for the physical hard drive.  RHDTV can work with the files in the shares great (monitor folders and know the shows) but what we want/would like needs more info that I’m not sure is accessible.  Honestly I think MS should have had this as part of it’s WHS TV connector add-in to MCE that has the services that moves the *.wtv files to the WHS2011 share for you.  A little MCE addin that has HDD space with pie graphs etc… plus the WHS service options to move all shows or just select ones is where this could have happened.  BTW They could have written the WHS TV archiver options better… should have a move all except these selected (pick the ones with copy once protection to stay local!).

I’m thinking MS dropped the ball.  Would love it if MJT could add it though.

Beaker, all very true -- especially the comment about picking the ones with Copy Once protection to stay local.  I would like it if my recordings were not all mixed on my drives (e.g. R-rated movies with kids shows).  But recordings go to the drive with the most free space, and the copy protection makes it difficult to shuffle recordings around.
