First let me say that this looks great! I've been having speed issues on my Xbox starting Record TV HD (30+ seconds) and when trying to stop a current recording to go back to the interface. I'm running a headless Windows 7 Home Premium box on a dual core Ivy Bridge 2.9Ghz Pentium with 4GB RAM. I'm running DVRMSToolbox with comskip. I see some CPU spikes but nothing over 60% and the memory usage is about 50%.
When using the native interface the delays are much lower. My OS and recording drives are separate.
If you are running Media Browser and RecordTVHD, Media Browser will slow down the whole process. Remove Media Browser and ensure your Xbox 360 Extenders, don't load up any add-ins. This is done, via the Extra's options. The only add-in you should be running is RecordTVHD on the extenders.
I'm experiencing a 10-25 second load time with the Movie strip, but this can be improved if you use the Window Media Center Theme, which doesn't load the backdrop images while loading the thumbnail images of the movies. The TV strip is much quicker than the Movie strip.
I do not run Media Browser, the only addins I have are DVRMSToolbox with comskip (the version that works on .wtv files) and My Channel Logos XL. I did not try any other themes but I will and I will report back.
I see, I do not run any add-ins on the Xbox's that I know about.
Now that I'm looking at the system it looks like I am using Media Center Like - 1 Row. I notice when I go into a series it is still displaying a full screen background, can that be disabled and would it speed it up?
If you want you can turn of backdrops all together by going into the Recorded TV HD Settings program outside of Media Center and uncheck the "Download and Use Backdrops" option (after stopping the service)
Great, I'll give that a try and see how it goes.
Would this cause any issues with using the original recorded tv? I tried it last night for a speed comparison and got audio and a blank screen. Just curious.
