Randomly when deleting shows via the interface it will cause the application to crash and then Media center to crash

chrisdfw
Randomly when deleting shows via the interface it will cause the application to crash and then Media center to crash.  I am using the list interface and sometimes when deleting it will also jump back to a sort by screen and have no items listed and the only way to get back is close recorded TV and reopen.

Are you deleting or recycling? Did you see anything else that looks like an error in the event log for with Recorded TV HD crashes inside of Media Center? It would be marked as "Information" under Applications and Services Logs -> Media Center.

I've been working on fixing the other errors you mentioned.

I think I have a good idea of what is happening and just coded what I think should be a fix. I'll let you know in this thread when I've got a beta release for you to try.

Thanks

Very odd. I can take a look at your database if you'd like and I'll see if there is any way to reproduce it. I've never seen the blank list problem. Please send: "C:\Users\Public\RecordedTVHD\database\RecordedTVHDdb.s3db" to support@recordedtvhd.com

Possibly related --

If the RecordedTVHDService has recently started and if it is still confirming the existence of shows/movies, if you are in List View and you quickly scroll down, the List View goes blank.

Re: Randomly when deleting shows via the interface it will cause the application to crash and then Media center to crash

chrisdfw
I think one of these issues is solved. The crashing was related to RTVHD or MC being pointed to all of my D drive.  When deleting items from the extender it could cause the Recycle bin to corrupt. Randomly MC and RTVHD also would crash.  This post helped me find the fix.
http://www.sevenforums.com/media-center/43591-corrupt-recycle-bin-after-delete-mc7.html

I am still seeing it lose focus and go blank like the screen shot above. If you can come up with a fix for that you have a real winner here.  Media Center the way it should have been.

I'm glad you fixed the crashing problem....

I personally have never seen it go blank like that unless it is supposed to (last recording was deleted and then it will go back a menu).

I thought maybe it had to do with it trying to read the database while it was locked or something so I added a loop in there to try it again if it has an error, but that didn't seem to fix it either.

If you find any way at all to reproduce it by following certain steps and I can do it too then we will be able to get somewhere, but right now I'm not sure what to look for.
