.NET issue or..? Fresh install.

Turtled
I just built a fresh new HTPC, Windows 7 Ultimate x64.  Quad core Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM.

I downloaded and installed R-TVHD and I am greeted with a .NET Framework window:

I click Continue and the program opens, but I can not save settings or start service.  This also happens if I right-click-run as admin.

Also, if I launch the program within W7MC, I get trial period is up.  Um, I just installed it 15 mins ago!

.NET 4.0, all Windows Updates installed.  =/

Thanks - sounds like this could be a nice plugin, just looking forward to using it first.

Odd. I have a couple of questions....

1. What does the error say after "Object referenced not set to an instance of an object..." on the first line of the exception text?
2. Are you running an English / US version of Windows or other?

You could also try to do a Windows system restore to just prior to installing Recorded TV HD and try installing from scratch (you probably should delete the C:\Users\Public\RecordedTVHD directory if it exists as well).

Let me know how it goes.

I will do a System Restore and clean install again.  I'll report back within the hour.  Thanks for the fast response, too!

Here is the full error:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Please try the latest beta as well...

http://www.recordedtvhd.com/download/beta/RecordedTVHDSetup.msi

I just released the beta about 45 minutes ago . I made one change that might have an effect on your situation, but I'm not sure yet.

Man, you are outstanding!  The settings screen shows up, no issues, service running, etc.

The only issue now is inside W7MC - it tells me:
Your free trial version of Recorded TV HD has
expired.  Please activate the full version in the
settings program outside of Media Center.
Thank you!

You alone are already worth your license fee!  I need to test this out to make sure (I have no doubts) that it is wife friendly!
