1.8.3 bugs

tjbhoward
MJT,
Thank you so much for putting work into the program. I absolutely love the addition to WMC. There are a couple of bugs that I have found in the new release.
1. I used to be able to group my recordings by date and still have them grouped together as series. Now they will group as series when viewing by title, (which are listed only alphabetically) but when viewed by date recorded they don't group into series.
2. The program was very snappy and responsive when I first installed it, but has gotten much slower over  time. Could that be a memory leak?
3. When I enable the option to view video in the background while in the RTVHD menu, I can see it also changing banners in the background on the sides while moving from show to show.
Thanks and keep up the great work!

I still get one or two 'Recorded TV HD has quit responding' messages during the day.  It does restart with no problems.

Also, since updating, no new shows are showing up.  They all go as unidentified files/episodes even though the series exist.  I removed the Longmire series when I tried to hook the latest episode up but the series has not been picked back up.  I'm afraid to do the same to my other shows.

What to do?

I also have received several "Program Not Responding" on RecordedTVHD v1.8.3.

And a few times I have had to stop and restart the services to get new recorded shows to come up.

It looks like windows 8 64 bit is the common denominator. Can some people please respond on how this is doing on windows 7 64 bit? Maybe we just have to wait a month or two for windows 8.1 and the new xbox 360 update.

I'm also having the new recordings being listed as unidentified even though the series is not new...  This never happened in the pervious 1.7.xx versions (I skipped from last 1.7.xxx to 1.8.3 directly).

I too was missing a lot of shows that normally would record, and found them in unidentified. They included The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, but also ones like 20/20, Dateline, Master Chef, Hell's Kitchen. These were always identified fine in prior releases.

I also have a strange bug where one show is listed in the recorded list, but it has already been deleted (out of the regular Recorded TV MCE interface. Now when you click into it within RTVHD 1.8.3, I get "File selected no longer exists or the location is no longer available."

In the Recorded TV HD Settings program outside of Media Center, there is an option under the "Headers" tab "(group by series)" that needs to be checked.

1.8.3 should have made things more snappy. If you want to, you can remove your database and have it start from scratch, but then you will lose all of your favorites. Not sure if that would make a difference either.

This seems to happen randomly for a few people. It should identify them if you restart the Recorded TV HD Service (or reboot the HTPC). If that doesn't work, let me know. I'll have to look again and figure out why this is getting stuck for some. Mine hasn't done that in over a year.

Is there anything in particular that you are doing when that happens? I haven't seen that message at all. Thanks.

Not sure why, but it seems that some people are having their service get "stuck" ... which is what would cause those problems.... Try restarting the Recorded TV HD Service. I'll have to take a deep look and figure out why that may be happening.

I've rebooted the HTPC a number of times with no luck.  I've never had this happen until the 1.8.3 update.  No  new shows are showing up, including the Longmire series I removed.  This is the first time I've ever had a problem with it.  If I need to remove the database, please let me know the name and location.  Thanks.

Would you mind uninstalling 1.8.3 and then installing 1.8.0 from the main download link on the homepage and let me know if it is still happening for you?

Thanks.

I am another person with having issues with newly recorded shows not appearing.  Tried rebooting but no luck.

Just uninstalled 1.8.3 and re-installed 1.8.0 and after about 2-3 minutes the missing shows appeared.

hope this helps

I believe your response was to the previous poster but FWIW, I had uninstalled 1.8.3 and installed the current production version and afterwards my recorded TV list within RTVHD showed no shows. It said 0 none found. After a few times verifying my settings and a few reboots, I uninstalled again and deleted the program files directory and the rtvhd folder in the public user directory, then installed 1.8.0 again. This resolved my particular issue. I'll try the next beta release should there be one.

The watched status isn't updating after exiting out of the episode into the listing of all the episodes for the season.  The check mark doesn't get applied to what you watched until you go out of the seasons episode list and back in.

Would be nice if the check mark got applied to the episode when you get back into the list of episodes for the season.

"Program Not Responding" error is totally random, I have not noticed any kind of pattern, but all I am doing is clicking the RecordedHDTV icon on the main WMC page.  Has happen twice while running v1.8.3, but I have also seen this in previous versions.

So it only is happening when launching Recorded TV HD? I know you said you switched this option just recently:

Recorded TV HD Settings (in Media Center) -> "Menu Strip, ..." -> "Other Interface Options" -> "Go back to Recorded TV HD home screen when pressing recorded tv button or relaunching from Media Center start screen."

Let me know if that changes anything with the error messages.
